Thank you for finding your way here.

I’m Shobaa. A Singaporean who has made London home. I have a full-time job, I am a Feng Shui consultant and astrologer, I am an activist and I write.

What is AYTG?

Part-personal stories, part-cultural critiques, I like to think of AYTG as a space to unpick, magnify and make sense of the idiosyncracities of living a modern, human life.

Some of the themes I explore:

  • Uncertainty and messiness

  • The eternal human need for control and how it shows up in our lives

  • Life not going according to plan

  • Failure, sorrow and waiting …

… in a world that doesn’t make space for all this.

Do you actually believe in God?

Yes. Not in the fierce, scary Master of the Universe way. More in the - constant bantering companion who mostly ignores me - way.

My Favourite Pieces

  1. Become unshameable - A quality I’ve had to work very hard to achieve and why I think becoming unshameable is a revolutionary act in our times.

  2. Nice or Kind? - Where I ponder the stark differences between the two and why it matters.

  3. Betwixt Despair and Hope - As humans, we often swing between despair and hope. I have come to distrust both. But then what’s the alternative?

  4. Zugunruhe - Have you heard of it? It is a German time for migratory restlessness. What’s that got to do with Christmas, you ask?

  5. There’s a Buddha in my room - A story about why there is a buddha in my bedroom.

Unpacking the societal narratives that hold us back and creating new playbooks for a good life. Wild, ponderous and always (fine, somewhat) funny.
